This article covers how billing works for Titan Email — renewals, upgrades, adding mailboxes, downgrades, and cancellation — so you know what to expect and how to make changes.
How Titan Email billing works
Titan Email is billed at the domain level: each domain has one subscription covering all of its mailboxes, all on the same plan, all renewing on the same date. Adding, upgrading, or removing mailboxes changes that one subscription rather than billing each mailbox separately.
Before you begin
- An active Titan Email subscription. See How to Purchase Titan Email if you haven't bought Titan Email yet.
Renewal and auto-renew
Auto-renew is on by default for every Titan Email subscription. You can turn it off from your Hover control panel at any time.
Note: If a renewal payment fails, your mailbox isn't cancelled immediately. Hover retries the charge for a few days; if it still hasn't succeeded, the mailbox is temporarily suspended (viewable, but can't send or receive), then deleted (You can reactivate within 30 days post deletion) after a further grace period with no payment. Paying at any point before deletion reactivates the mailbox on its original renewal date.
Upgrading your plan
You can move your domain's Titan Email subscription up to a higher tier (Pro → Premium, Pro → Ultra, or Premium → Ultra) at any time.
- From your control panel, choose the option to upgrade your plan for the domain.
- Confirm the upgrade.
The new tier applies immediately, and you're charged only the prorated difference between your old and new tier for the time left in your term. Your renewal date doesn't change — at your next renewal, you're billed the new tier's full rate.
Adding mailboxes
You can add mailboxes to an existing domain at any time, at your domain's current plan tier.
- From your domain control panel, hit the + button on the domain with Titan Email.
- Click Buy more accounts
New email accounts are prorated to your domain's existing renewal date, so every mailbox on the domain stays in sync and renews together.
Cancelling Titan Email
You cancel by deleting mailboxes from your Hover control panel. See Managing Your Titan Mailbox Settings for how to delete a mailbox.
Warning: Please note that deleting a mailbox results in the immediate loss of access to all associated emails, contacts, and calendar data. Additionally, please be aware that Titan Email services are non-refundable.
Deleting a mailbox frees an account slot, but doesn't reduce your paid account count on its own. Once every account on a domain is unused, that domain's subscription won't renew and lapses naturally at the end of the term — you don't need to take a separate cancellation step. Setting up a new mailbox on an Titan Email account before the renewal date keeps the subscription active.
If a subscription fully lapses, reactivating a mailbox within 30 days keeps it and gives it a new expiry date from the reactivation date; after 30 days, a new purchase starts a brand-new subscription.
