Sign In to Your Hover Account

Your Hover control panel is where you manage your domains' DNS, email accounts, and billing, so knowing how to sign in — and how to recover access when you can't — matters. This article covers requesting a username reminder, resetting your password, signing in with a magic token, and a quick reference for common sign-in questions.

Why account access matters

There are times your username or password gets misplaced. You can usually recover the credentials you need to access your account quickly using the methods below.

Before you begin

  • Know your primary email address: Use the email address set as primary on your Hover account for these recovery methods — it may differ from any Hover-provided email address.
  • Add Hover to your trusted senders: Add help@hover.com to your email provider's trusted sender list so password reset and username reminder emails reach your inbox reliably.

Step 1: Request a username reminder

  1. In your browser, go to the Hover control panel sign-in page.
  2. Select Forgot username?
  3. Enter the email address associated with your Hover account, then select Send.

Note: If you enter an email address other than the primary one on your account, you'll see a message indicating the address wasn't found.

  1. You'll receive an email titled Hover username reminder containing your username and a link to reset your password.

Note: If more than one Hover account is linked to your email address, the message lists all connected usernames.

  1. Return to the sign-in page and enter the username from the reminder email.

Step 2: Reset your password

  1. In your browser, go to the Hover control panel sign-in page.
  2. Select Forgot password?
  3. Enter the username associated with your Hover account, then select Send.
  4. You'll receive an email titled Reset your Hover password containing your username for reference. Select Reset your password in the email. This link is valid for one hour.
  5. Type your new password into the New password field, then select Continue.

Note: Passwords must be at least 14 characters long and include at least one number, one special symbol, and one capitalized letter.

  1. You'll be signed in directly to the Activity section of your account, and a "Your password has been reset" message confirms the change.

Step 3: Sign in with a magic token

Magic token sign-in lets you log in using your Hover account's primary email address instead of your username and password.

Note: This only works with a verified account email address — see Verifying a Hover Account Email Address. If two-step sign-in is enabled, you'll also need to enter a code from your authenticator app.

  1. Go to the sign-in page and select Or sign in with magic token.
  2. Enter the email address associated with your Hover account and select Send token.
  3. Hover emails a six-digit authentication code to that address, active for 15 minutes. Enter the code and select Confirm code.
  4. If the email address isn't associated with a Hover account, that address will receive an email stating no Hover account was found.
  5. If multiple accounts are linked to the same email address, select the username you're trying to sign in to.
