When you contact Hover support, we may need to verify your identity before we can access your account, personal information, or mailbox settings. This article explains the PIN code process support uses to confirm it's really you.
Note: This article covers identity verification during a support conversation. If you're looking for how to verify an account email address (the blue vs. gray checkmark), see Verifying a Hover Account Email Address instead.
Why identity verification matters
As part of Hover's ongoing efforts to improve privacy and security, we've changed how your data is protected. Hover support can't view your personal information — including your name and account email address — without first verifying your account. Support also can't sign in to or view the contents of your Hover account until your identity is fully verified.
Before you begin
- Know when it's needed: Our support team determines whether identity verification is required based on what you're asking for help with. It's required whenever the request involves your personal information, account, or mailbox settings.
- Have your primary email inbox available: Your verification PIN is sent to the email address listed as your primary Hover account contact.
Step 1: Retrieve your verification PIN
- Log in to the email address listed as your primary Hover account contact.
Note: The information on your account stays redacted until verification is complete, so support won't be able to tell you what email address is on file.
- Locate and open the email titled Hover PIN verification.
- Give the four-digit PIN from the email to the Hover support agent.
Step 2: Provide your two-factor code (if applicable)
- If you have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled on your account, get the code from your authenticator app and give it to support as well.
Next steps
- Keep your primary email address current so you can always receive PIN verification emails — see Updating Your Hover Account Contact Email Address.
- Verify your account email address if you haven't already, to help keep your account secure — see Verifying a Hover Account Email Address.
