Email verification confirms that an email address on your Hover account is active and belongs to you. It's required when you create a new account, and it's an important security feature that helps Hover assist you more effectively. This article explains how to verify a new or existing account email address and how to tell whether an address is already verified.
Note: This article covers email address verification. If you're looking for the PIN code process Hover support uses to confirm your identity during a support conversation, see Verifying Your Identity With Hover Support instead.
Verified vs. unverified emails
An unverified email address shows a gray checkmark next to it. A verified address shows a blue checkmark. Verifying an address confirms it's active and legitimate, and lets Hover support assist you more effectively.
Before you begin
- Have access to the email inbox you're verifying: You'll need to open the verification email sent to that address and enter the code it contains.
Step 1: Verify the email on a new account
- Sign up for a Hover account.
- Hover automatically sends an account verification email to the address you entered on the signup page. The email contains a six-digit code used to confirm and verify your account.
Step 2: Verify an email on an existing account
- Sign in to your Hover control panel using your chosen method of two-step sign-in.
- Select Settings to view your account and backup email addresses.
- Select Edit next to the address you want to verify, then send the verification email.
- Open the verification email and enter the six-digit code to confirm and verify the address.
Next steps
- Check for the blue checkmark next to your email address to confirm verification succeeded.
- Update your contact email if the address you need to verify isn't listed yet — see Updating Your Hover Account Contact Email Address.
