Have a question about your Hover account? This article brings together answers to the most common questions customers ask about signing in, managing services, updating DNS, and setting up email — everything in one place so you can find what you need quickly.
What You Can Do with Your Hover Account
Your Hover control panel is the one place to manage everything connected to your account — your domains, DNS, billing, and any email services you've added. Whether you're just getting familiar with your account or looking for a specific setting, the steps below cover the most frequently requested tasks.
Before you begin
- Your Hover account credentials — you'll need these to sign in to your control panel or webmail.
- Your domain name — have it handy if you're updating DNS records or setting up email.
- A payment method — needed if you want to switch to manual renewal or purchase an email plan.
Step 1: Sign In to Your Account
Hover keeps signing in simple with an easy-to-find sign-in menu.
- Go to hover.com and select Sign in from the menu.
- Choose Control Panel to manage all your Hover services, or choose Webmail to go directly to your Hover email.
Tip: Bookmark whichever option you use most so it's one click away next time.
Step 2: Keep Your Account Email Up to Date
Your Hover account email is where we send all account and product updates, so it's worth checking that it's current. See Updating Your Hover Account Contact Email Address for the full steps.
- Sign in to your Hover control panel.
- Go to Settings and update your contact email under Contact info.
Step 3: Manage Auto-Renew for Your Domains
Auto-renew automatically bills your payment method each year so your domain never lapses. It's turned on by default for all new domain registrations. See Turning Auto-Renew On or Off for the full steps.
- Sign in to your Hover control panel and open the domain you want to check.
- Turn auto-renew on or off from the domain's overview page, or switch to manual renewal if you'd rather pay for each term yourself.
Note: You can change this setting anytime — there's no need to decide right now.
Step 4: Point Your Domain's DNS
DNS records work like the wiring behind your walls — your domain is the house, but without the wiring correctly connected, your website or email won't work. When you connect your domain to a website or email provider, you'll need to update the DNS records associated with it. See Managing DNS Records (Hover) for details.
- Sign in to your Hover control panel and open the domain you want to update.
- Go to the DNS section and add, edit, or remove records as directed by your website or email provider.
Tip: Hover's forwarding tool lets you set up unlimited custom redirects — domain forwards, subdomain forwards, or shortcuts — without touching DNS records directly. See Managing Domain Forwarding to learn how.
Note: Confirm where your domain's nameservers are pointing before making DNS changes. See Changing Your Domain Nameservers. To manage DNS in the Hover control panel, your domain needs to use Hover's nameservers.
Step 5: Choose and Set Up an Email Plan
A domain-based email address helps you look professional and keeps your brand consistent every time you send a message. Hover offers three email plans, each suited to a different need: see Buying and Managing Your Email Accounts for full details on each plan.
Storage size | Benefits | Price | |
|---|---|---|---|
Mail forward | Not applicable | Get a professional email address that forwards to your existing inbox. | $5 per year |
Small mailbox | 10GB | A solid starting point if you're new to email on your domain, with room to grow. | $30 per year |
Big mailbox | 1TB (1,000GB) | Built for businesses that need serious space — 1,000GB of it. | $40 per year |
- Sign in to your Hover control panel and go to the email section.
- Choose the mailbox type that fits your needs and complete the purchase.
- Manage your new mailbox directly through Webmail, or add it to a third-party email client on your computer, smartphone, or tablet.
